Just weeks afterJurassic World: Rebirthreignited global interest in the dinosaur saga, the originalJurassic World(2015)is seeinga major spike across streaming platforms worldwide. The nostalgic blockbuster starringChris Prattas Owen Grady isclawing its way back into top 10 rankings in countries from Argentina to Vietnam, showing that the dino craze is anything but extinct.
On iTunes,Jurassic Worldclimbed its way upin over 40 countries this week, hitting as high as#1 in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Jordan. It also posted consistent placements across Europe, climbing to #5 in Belgium, #6 in Germany, and even re-entering the top 10 in France. This resurgence, however, isn’t limited to iTunes. On Amazon, the film returned to the top 10 in Italy, Mexico, and Spain, with Spain remaining especially loyal as it keptJurassic Worldlocked in the top 10 daily. Evenniche platforms like Rakuten TV and Zee5 reported renewed traction, with Slovenia and India listing the movie within their respective top 10s multiple days in a row.

The film is also pacing strongly in the Middle East on OSN, with Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, and Qatar giving the original installment solid midweek rankings. All signs point to a global wave of rewatching sparked by the new film’s arrival and a fresh appreciation for the movie that kicked off the modern trilogy. The originalJurassic Worldhas a solid 72% from critics and 78% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and went on to gross a staggering $1.67 billion globally, which made it thesecond-highest-grossing film of 2015and, at the time, thethird-highest-grossing film in box office history.Jurassic World: Rebirth, on the other hand, has so far grossed approximately $550 million in its first two weeks.
Could Jurassic World: Rebirth Break the OG ‘Jurassic World’s Box Office Records?
It’s unlikely thatJurassic World: Rebirthwill match the original’sbox office dominance. The 2015 film ran in theaters for over 20 weeks, with a massive opening weekend of $208 million and strong legs throughout the summer, ultimately reaching $1.67 billion worldwide. In contrast,Rebirthhas grossed around $550 million in its first two weeks, which is a solid showing, but its momentum appears to be frontloaded. Secondly, with two major tentpoles,SupermanandFantastic Four, hitting theaters or coming next week, respectively, audience attention and screens will be divided. While Rebirth will still command attention early in its run, its momentum is almost certain to wane as the summer blockbuster gauntlet continues.
Jurassic Worldcan be streamed on Prime Video. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
