Editor’s note: The below contains spoilers for Found Season 2.

The “Big Bad Wolf of M&A” is out of his cage. Sort of. The wolf is partially out of his cage.Found’snewest episode ended on a cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers. In the episode’s final moments, Gabi (Shanola Hampton) and her M&A family stand around Christian’s (Michael Cassidy) supposed (because they still haven’t shown the body) grave. Just as Gabi finishes her speech about Christian’s kind heart, who rolls up in a mysterious black car but Hugh “Sir” Evans (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) himself. Sir, dressed to the nines as usual, is handcuffed as he steps out of the car and says goodbye to his brother before he’s ushered back in. After being mysteriously relocated earlier, the episode’s final moments make it abundantly clear what’s happened.Sir made a deal with the FBI. He may still be incarcerated, but whatever information he has is valuable enough to warrant special treatment. The only question remains: What could Sir possibly know that isthatvaluable to the FBI? And is it connected to the dark family secret he claims to know about Trent (Brett Dalton)?

How Is Sir Valuable To the FBI?

Many characters inFound, including the incredibly smart Gabi Mosely, speak highly of Sir’s intelligence. And while he was clever enough to evade capture for twenty years until Gabi caught him herself, one could argue that Hugh Evans isnot exactly Hannibal Lecter.Sir has a Bachelor’s degree and a revoked teaching license. He’s proven himself useful in finding missing people based on his expertise as a kidnapper himself. But while the FBI does sometimes investigate missing person cases, they’re likely not handing out special privileges to just anyone withabove-average intellectand the ability to steal little girls from their homes. Eventhe aforementioned Hannibal Lecter’shelp was only sought out when a senator’s daughter went missing. So it’s a bit suspicious that the FBI should be willing to grant special privileges based on Sir’s ability to find missing people alone.

There is an argument that this deal has something to do with Sir’s sister, Lena (Danielle Savre). She was his accomplice and did commit identity theft, among other crimes, across state lines. That, too, would technically fall under the FBI’s jurisdiction. But though Sir is most definitely willing to betray his own blood in his efforts to be with Gabi, this also feels unlikely. For one, Sir told Lena to flee in a previous episode when it became obvious that M&A was onto her. Additionally, Sir’s crimesvastlyoutnumber Lena’s. Relatively speaking, Lena’s current crimes are small potatoes compared to Sir’s twenty-year-long tirade. If the FBI was willing to offer a deal to any Evans sibling, it would probably be her.So what does Sir know?

‘Found’ Just Proved Our Theory About Sir’s Accomplice Right, But What Does It Mean for Gabi?

Things just got a lot more complicated.

What If the FBI Is Onto Trent’s Father?

Found’ssecond season introduced us to detective Mark Trent’s father, James Trent (Ed Amatrudo), and it’s been a sketchy ride. Trent seems to havea thorny relationship with his fatherdespite clearly looking up to him. James Trent told Gabi in as many words to stay away from his son. It’s implied that James Trent planted drugs on an innocent man to frame him for the abduction of a little boy in Season Two, Episode 15, “Missing While Seeking Asylum.” Sir claims to have shocking secrets that will destroy the Trent family name forever. And while one would hope that James Trent being a dirty cop would be enough to ruin the Trent family legacy, realistically, it’s not.So what if Sir knows something even worse about James Trent?

Sir implicates Trent’s father directly in the disappearance of those seven children from “Missing While Seeking Asylum.” And while the episode ends with the now-adult children reuniting with their families, Sir remains unbothered. Trent directly gloats to Sir’s face about finding the children, and Sir only congratulates him. Whatever he knows about the Trent family must go deeper than James Trent simply botching a missing person’s case thirty years ago. And the key lies in the riddle-esque note Sir gives Trent to read to Gabi. This note ends by saying, “If you want to learn the truth about the Trent family legacy, only now are you looking in the right direction.” It’s clear that whatever Sir is trying to communicate to Gabi has to do with Mark Trent specifically. And while Trent might not be a dirty cop like his father, whatever crime Sir is referencing might be something that was donetohim, notbyhim.

“Missing While Seeking Asylum” may have had a happy ending, but it’s implied that more than seven children were stolen from their immigrant families and sold to wealthy parents. An operation like that, with multiple stolen children trafficked across state lines, would be well within the FBI’s jurisdiction.Even if only those seven children were stolen, it would still be a major enough case to warrant special treatment for any criminal with useful information. This could be the case the FBI is giving Sir special privileges in exchange for his help.

Chances are, this trafficking operation is still ongoing. Sir seems certain the truth will ruin the Trent family forever, so what if James Trent has a far larger role in it than he’s letting on? Certainly, Mark Trent isn’t in on it, but what if trafficking children is the Trent family business? That would explain why James Trent has been so hostile to Gabi; Her work is in direct opposition to his. It might even explainSir’s cryptic note. Mark Trent himself could very well be one of the trafficked children in question without even knowing it. Mark looks nothing like his father. The illegitimate circumstances of his birth might be the cause of the strife in his relationship with his father. And this twist would give Mark Trent direct narrative parallels to Gabi and Jamie (Parker Queenan).

What would it mean for the kindhearted detective if he, too, wasa child stolen from his biological familyby a kidnapper who thought they could provide a better home? If this is the case, how does Sir, of all people, know the truth about the Trent family? Is his interest in dethroning James Trent simply a manifestation of his jealousy over Mark Trent’s relationship with Gabi? Orhave James Trent and Sir known each other far longer than either is willing to let on? If we’re lucky, these questions will be answered in the remaining episodes of Season 2. But, more likely, we will have to wait and hope for a Season 3 renewal.
