“We’re about to do something a little devious.” That’s the word straight fromSylvester Stallone, and judging by his grin and the sharp suit he’s wearing, Dwight Manfredi is not done causing trouble in Tulsa. Season 3 ofTulsa Kingis officially filming — and while there’s still no release date, Stallone is giving fans a little taste of what’s to come. The legendary star took to Instagram this week to share a behind-the-scenes tease — and we hope it’s a fake cigar he’s smoking, because that can’t be safe. Regardless, it’s clear that Dwight’s next move won’t be subtle… or safe.
When we last saw Dwight at theend of Season 2, things were anything but stable. Bill Bevilaqua (Frank Grillo) had just taken out Chickie (RIP, but also… good riddance), and Dwight himself was kidnapped by a mysterious group — leaving fans with a mob-sized cliffhanger. Based on what we know so far, it looks like Dwight and Bill will be getting into some joint business this season. That’s either a brilliant partnership or a disaster waiting to happen. Maybe both.
What Can We Expect From ‘Tulsa King’ Season 3?
And if that weren’t enough,Neal McDonoughhas officially leveled up. After playing local power broker Cal Thresherin Season 2,McDonough confirmed to Colliderthat his character is now thegovernor of Oklahomain Season 3. That can’t be good news.
“David Glasser[executive producer] said, ‘Tell him your idea’. I said, ‘David, I’d like to come back as the governor next year.’ He thought about it and said, ‘That’s a good idea.’ …Then I get the call, ‘Okay, you’re back… You’ll start in two weeks.’ I read the script, and on the first page: Cal Thresher becoming governor of the great state of Oklahoma.”
Created byTaylor Sheridan, the show continues to be one of the crown jewels of Paramount+. It’s dark, funny, violent, and somehow makes mafia drama feel fresh in the wide-open plains of Oklahoma. Stallone shines as Dwight, a man who’s constantly two steps ahead — or three steps behind — in every scheme. “Taylor Sheridan’s a beast,” McDonough said. “Possibly the most prolific writer of our time — fromWind RivertoTulsa KingtoLioness,Landman,Yellowstone, 1923, 1883.”
While Paramount+ hasn’t dropped an official date for Season 3, production is in full swing. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming exclusively on Paramount+.
