Danny Elfmanwill once again be working withTim Burton.According to Netflix Geeked’s Twitter, Elfman will be working on Burton’s upcomingWednesdayseries for Netflix.
Elfman will compose the series' theme song. He will also score all eight episodes of the series, along withChris Bacon. Elfman has done the music for most of Burton’s previous films including 1988’sBeetlejuice(starringMichael Keaton), 1989’sBatman(starring Keaton andJack Nicholson), its 1992 sequelBatman Returns(starring Keaton,Danny DeVito, andMichelle Pfeiffer), and 1990’sEdward Scissorhands(starringJohnny DeppandWinona Ryder).

Elfman recently did the music for this year’sThe Woman in the Window(directed byJoe Wright), 2020’sDolittle(directed byStephen Gaghan), and 2018’sThe Grinch(directed byScott MosierandYarrow Cheney). Bacon’s previous work includes 2018’sSherlock Gnomes(directed byJohn Stevenson), 2015’sBeing Charlie(directed byRob Reiner), and 2012’sHigh Ground(directed byMike Brown). Bacon previously worked with Elfman on 2019’sMen in Black: International(directed byF. Gary Gray) and ABC’s 2017 limited seriesWhen We Rise.

Wednesdayfocuses on Wednesday Addams (played in this seriesbyJenna Ortega) from The Addams Family franchise. Ortega previously played a younger version of Jane Villanueva in The CW’sJane the Virgin(which ran from 2014-2019). She also starred in this year’sThe Fallout(directed byMegan Park) andYes Day(directed byMiguel Arteta). She will be joined byCatherine-Zeta Jonesas her mother Morticia Addams, andLuis Guzmanas Gomez Addams. Burton will direct the series and be an executive producer.Alfred GoughandMiles Millarwill be the series' showrunners. The duo previously worked together on the Superman seriesSmallville,The Shannara Chronicles, andInto the Badlands.
Wednesdayis set to debut in 2022 on Netflix. In the meantime, fans can see the latest version of the character in this year’s animatedThe Addams Family 2, voiced byChloe Grace Moretz.
