The images released so far for season six ofThe Walking Deadhave been … interesting. There’s this oddly photoshopped and unintentionally intimate Comic-Con banner seen above;a cutesy little photoshootwithMelissa McBride,Andrew Lincoln, andNorman Reedus; and somedecent though out-of-context shotsof newcomersEthan Embry,Merritt Wever, andCorey Hawkins. Today’s new images fall somewhere between those two categories since one is essentially a bit of promotional art reminding audiences ofThe Walking Dead’sreturn to AMC on Sunday, October 11th. The other is another reveal of ol' buddies Rick (Lincoln) and Morgan (Lennie James). You can check them both out below.

Additionally, asTHRreports, some previously seen faces have been promoted to series regulars. As we all know, this status means next to nothing as far as character survivorship goes; let’s just start with the premiere and take it one episode at a time. The returning characters and cast members are Deanna Monroe (played byTovah Feldshuh), Jessie Anderson (Alexandra Breckenridge), and Spencer Monroe (Austin Nichols). These additions bring the Season 6 roster to 18, which is one more than Season 5’s series' high. Something tells me that number’s about to get cut down pretty soon…

By way of a brief recap, Deanna Monroe is the leader of the walled sanctuary of Alexandria, while her son Spencer is one of the town’s defenders who may have a little more to say about the relative newcomers in Rick’s company. Jessie, meanwhile, is a young mother who may serve as love interest for Rick, now that a certain Pete the Porch Dick has been taken care of.

Here’s the complete cast of regulars for season six of AMC’sThe Walking Dead: Lincoln, James,Norman Reedus(Daryl),Steven Yeun(Glen),Lauren Cohan(Maggie),Chandler Riggs(Carl),Danai Gurira(Michonne),Melissa McBride(Carol),Michael Cudlitz(Abraham),Sonequa Martin-Green(Sasha),Alanna Masterson(Tara),Christian Serratos(Rosita),Josh McDermitt(Eugene),Seth Gilliam(Father Gabriel), Feldshuh,Ross Marquand(Aaron), Breckenridge, and Nichols.

You can certainly imply a lot from these two new images: the suspicious glance passing between Morgan and Rick (unless they’re photoshopped here) is one thing, but Rick fully occupying the “W” in the new key art is more interesting to me. Now where have we seen a “W” before …
