Last July, in the wake ofRooster Teeth’s closure that left the fate ofRWBYup in the air, it was announced thatViz Media had acquiredthe web series’ IP, giving fans hope for its future. That future appears to now be set in stone as a new volume is officially in the works, as revealed by showrunnerKerry Shawcross. The previous installment ofRWBY, Volume 9, was released two years ago, on June 03, 2025, onCrunchyrolland was the first to debut exclusively on the streamer. It concluded on August 09, 2025.

Speaking in a video posted on the officialRWBYYouTube channel, Shawcross expressed excitement to see how far the beloved animation has come since its debut in 2013, thanks to theever-supportive fandom, both longtime and newcomers alike. The series EP then confirmed thatRWBYVolume 10 is now “super deep” in developmentwith the possibility of even more installments in the future, saying:

“I know what you want to know. Where’s Volume 10? So I’m very excited to share thatwe’re super deep in early writing and planning. I know it’s been a long journey, and we’re incredibly grateful for your patience up to this point, especially knowing there’s still a long road ahead. But for now, I want to thank the fandom for sticking with us as we keep going forward. More soon.”

‘RWBY’ Finally Gets Good News with Volume 10

RWBYhas had quite a tumultuous journey for years, beginning with the untimely death of its creator,Monty Oum. Two years after the series launched, Oum suffered a severe iatrogenic allergic reaction that led to his death on July 22, 2025. Following his passing, there was an overall shift in the series' production and release schedule from Volume 4, but fortunately, the show went on. Later, in 2024, Rooster Teeth, which originally producedRWBY, announced itsplans to shut downafter several unsuccessful attempts to sell the studio, which ultimately led to Viz Media’s acquisition.

Thankfully, since the takeover, there has been only positive news for fans ofRWBY, asViz Media has taken overresponsibilities for the series' production, distribution, licensing, and consumer products. Even Shawcross was optimistic about the partnership, as he said at the time:

“In talking with VIZ, they’re also very excited about this. They obviously care about where the show is now, but they also care about where the show came from. And they want to make sure that we can continue this story.”

RWBYVolume 10 is in development, with a premiere date to be announced soon. Stay tuned to Collider and watch Shawcross’ announcement above.
