WhileBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justiceis getting some residual interest now withthe release of the extended, R-rated “Ultimate Edition” imminent, we’re just under two months away from the release of the next film of the DC Extended Universe,Suicide Squad. The project originated with writer/directorDavid Ayer, who made his pitch to craft a villain-centric superhero movie, went about assembling an A-list cast, and shot his movie all in short order.

The result isSuicide Squad, a story that finds the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated supervillains tasked with a perilous mission by the government, headed up byViola Davis’ U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller. We know thatJoel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg is the leader of the group from the government standpoint, butWill Smith’s Deadshot andMargot Robbie’s Harley Quinn very much appear to be in control. We also know thatJared Leto’s Joker factors into the plot quite heavily, but Warner Bros. is keeping the principal threat under heavy wraps at the moment, so in actuality the plot of the film is still pretty mysterious.

U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do.
