As Marvel Studios’Doctor Strangewinds down filming, the studio is gearing up to embark on an unprecedented co-production that marks one of its biggest movies yet:Spider-Man. As part of a landmark deal, Marvel and Sony Pictures are teaming up to produce a newSpider-Manreboot while Marvel enjoys the right to use this new Spider-Man character in its various films. As you well know,Tom Holland’s new iteration of Peter Parker makes his debut next month inCaptain America: Civil War, but while theSpider-Manreboot remains untitled, its name may have just been revealed.
The eagle-eyed folks atBBC(viaEmpire) noticed that Sony registered the domain name SpiderManHomecomingTheMovie.com late last week, signaling thatSpider-Man: Homecomingcould very well be the title of this newSpider-Manpicture. While domain names aren’t a 100% reliable source of insider info, thisishow we learned the title ofSkyfall, another Sony movie, and has led to more than a few scoops over the years.

So what’s the significance ofHomecoming? Well first and foremost, it refers to a comic book storyline that also featured the characters of Captain America and Iron Man, which means we could seeChris Evansand/orRobert Downey Jr.pop up in the standalone Spidey picture. The story ofHomecomingin the comics found Spidey and Curt Connors arriving back home via a portal, followed shortly by the Avengers, as Spider-Man goes about patrolling the city and finding out what his new costume can do. That comic also marks the first appearance of the venom suit in the pages ofThe Amazing Spider-Manand features the character of Black Cat, but Marvel has rarely adapted a comics storyline verbatim, so ifHomecomingis indeed the title, we can’t guarantee which aspects of the comic will make their way to the screen. Again, the title ofHomecomingisn’t confirmed, but it does make quite a bit of sense.
Marvel Studios presidentKevin Feigepreviously revealed that his intention with this new Spider-Man film is to tell a high school-set Spider-Man story, which was further bolstered by the casting of 19-year-old Tom Holland as Peter Parker.Cop CarhelmerJon Wattsis directing the film withMarisa TomeiandZendayaset as part of the ensemble, and we should be hearing much more casting news shortly as the film’s summer production start-date approaches.

The newSpider-Manfilm is slated for release on June 09, 2025. For more, peruse our recent links below:
