Peacock’sPoker Facerecently returned with a trifecta of high-quality opening episodes, proving that the spark of thisNatasha Lyonne-led mystery series certainly hasn’t faded. In fact, after theopening season ofPoker Facereceived universal praise from all corners of the globe, the second managed to somehow outperform it on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, taking home a perfect 100% scoreagainst Season 1’s near-perfect 98%. Because of this, the entire series has now moved even closer to flawlessness, now boasting a99% rating from critics.

However, Season 2 hasn’t managed to capture the imagination of viewers quite like it has critics, with the audience score of just 74% sadly lower than the 81% received by Season 1. This gives the overall show an audience rating of 78%, which is still worthy of praise but certainly pales in comparison to the critical score. Not Everyone Agrees That ‘Poker Face’ Season 2 Is Better Than Season 1

The beauty of criticism lies in its subjectivity, with even the highest-rated seasons of television not immune to criticism. Collider’sAidan Kelley, who called Season 1 a “bonafide home run,” didn’t feel that the second season quite reached the same heady heights of its predecessor, awarding it a strong, albeit slightly disappointing, 7/10. Citing a lack of engaging content in some of the episodes and missing desires from Lyonne’s main character throughout, Kelley did have plenty of praise to award the season, sayingCharlie is “still one of the best TV detectives of all time,“and that “every episode has sleek and stylish directing, writing, and editing.” In conclusion, Kelley wrote, “While it may be time for Charlie Cale to start earning more development moving forward, it’ll still be exciting to see what kind of acePoker Facehas up its sleeve — not just for its remaining two episodes, but the potential future of this fun howcatchem show.”
