Trailers galore for two genre offerings: both making their internet debut last week,The Circle, starringEmma Watson,John Boyega,Karan GillanandTom Hanks. While promising to make the world a better, more perfect place,The Circlesees social media surveillance taken to dangerous levels. What appears to be a cautionary tale,The Circleis in theaters this April.

Later in the summer comes probably my most anticipated movie of the year,Matt Reeves’latest,War for the Planet of the Apes. Since we have last seenAndy Serkis’sCaesar and the crew, the Apes have continued to evolve but it would also appear that the surviving humans have organized fast, led by franchise newcomerWoody Harrleson. While Matt Reeves has stated that in theory his movies are still fairly far removed in timeline from the 1968Charlton Hestonfilm, Harrleson’s VO in the first trailer seems to lead us to believe that if this battle ends in the humans favor, we might not be so far from aPlanet of Apesafter all. The tension is echoed in the international trailer, as well.
