There have been lots of updates onJurassic World 2over the past week, set to be directed byA Monster Calls’J.A. Bayona. In addition to learning that production will begin in March 2017, Bayona was able to reveal to Coming Soon thatJurassic World 2was a very personal film for him. Bayona also told Cinema Blend that while his movie would absolutely serve as a sequel toJurassic World, it also works asJurassic Park 5, or, part of a longer saga, wanting to connectJurassic WorldandJurassic Parkmore thanJurassic Worlddid.

Last weekDon Mancinigave hope to horror fans looking for more fromChucky, everyone’s favorite Good Guy, by way of a cryptic tweet: CouldChucky 7be on the way? And will it feature a franchise reunion? Bloody Disgusting has begun to put the pieces together after Mancini shared a photo of himself outside the house whereCurse of Chuckytakes place. With a caption that reads, “Chucky is finally coming home,” and tagsFiona Dourif,Summer H. Howell,Jennifer Tillyand original Andy,Alex Vincent.
When you putAnthony Hopkins,Jeffery Dean MorganandCollin Farrelltogether, some would say you’ve assembled a pretty solid cast of actors. Add them to what was supposed to be the sequel toDavid Fincher’sSevenand you have yourself an interesting cinematic prospect.Lionsgate released a trailer for the supernatural serial killer movieSolacewhich sees Hopkins as a psychic doctor working with Morgan’s FBI agent to track down a dangerous serial killer, played by Farrell, who also has psychic abilities. While the premise might sound a little goofy, the cast is filled with heavy hitters and morbid curiosity has me interested in what was originally slated to be rewritten into the sequel toSevenappropriately titledEight.

What’s In The Box?!:

Finally, this weekTeen WolfshowrunnerJeff Daviswas able to give updates on both his pilot for a potential series adaptation of the Swedish novelLet The Right One Inat TNT as well as his involvement with MTV’s adaptation ofH.G. Wells’sWar of the Worlds. Speaking with Forbes.com’sMerrill Barr, Davis spoke toWar of the Worlds, noting that it’s not a huge sci-fi, special effects heavy series but more a POV from survivors on the ground, trying to figure out how to stop the invasion. Davis compared the project to aMichael Crichton-type thriller and praisedSteven Spielberg’sWar of the Worlds as underrated.

Switching gears, Davis then sang the praises of his cast leading the pilot forLet The Right One In, noting that while he loves the original Swedish film, it wasn’t until he read the book that he realized how the story could be a TV series. Davis said that the story is about Dracula’s seduction and Renfield, the caretaker. He added while this was a dark, adult story, it tells the story from the eyes of the kids. Davis concluded by stating that TNT would be deciding ifLet The Right One Inwould be going to series pretty quickly.
Monster of the Week:
I don’t know about you, but I have been stressed lately! And Sunday night I found myself slowing down, taking a breath and thinking, What can I do to relax? And the answer I came up with was pleasure readingStephen King’sIT. Now, this doesn’t sound like the most relaxing thing on the surface, as anyone familiar with the horrifying deeds of Pennywise can tell you. But I thought about the idea of a controlled environment in which to experience fear, anger, aggression, etc and I thought about the plot of a bunch of outsiders banding together to fight evil and it made sense why that might calm me down. So panel, have you ever experienced this or a horror catharsis before? And if so, what was it?
