Time for an update on a pair of movies you’ve maybe heard about circulating for a while but now have legit official ratings from the MPAA! First up isAndy Serkis' take on “The Jungle Book” story, dubbed simplyMowgli. After that, it’s ontoOtto Bathurst’s gritty origin story of the Prince of Thieves,Robin Hood. You get three guesses as to just what their official ratings are, and the first two don’t count.

As presided over by the MPAA, and confirmed over atBox Office Mojo,Mowglihas received a PG-13 rating for “intense sequences of action violence including bloody images, and some thematic elements”, whileRobin Hoodhas also landed a PG-13 rating for “extended sequences of violence and action, and some suggestive references.” Totally makes sense that the “boy in the jungle raised by chill animals” story seems less tame than “freedom fighter takes down oppressive regime.”

“The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.”
