While filming hasn’t gotten underway just yet, starTaron Egertonhas unveiled the firstKingsman 2poster for thehighly anticipated sequel. Officially titledKingsman: The Golden Circle, the follow-up findsMatthew Vaughnreturning to direct while thestory goes international, with Egerton’s young spy Eggsy now a fully fledged member of Kingsman and jetting off to America to rub elbows with Kingsman’s American counterparts, The Statesmen, run byHalle Berry’s character. But things take a turn and Eggsy and his colleagues are tasked with going up againstJulianne Moore’s formidable villain, named Poppy.
While early development on the sequel teased thatColin Firth’s character may be returning despite the fact that he—SPOILER ALERT—was shot in the face in the first film bySamuel L. Jackson’s delightful antagonist, subsequent casting reportssuggested that Vaughn and Co. had since moved off that idea and Firth would not be a part of the follow-up.However, this first poster forKingsman: The Golden Circleis all about teasing Firth’s return, and I’m curious to see if this means his character will indeed be back or if it’s simply a piece of cheeky marketing.

Vaughn and co-writerJane Goldmanapparently flirted with the idea of potentially bringing Firth back as the twin brother of his Kingsman veteran Harry Hart, but if this poster is to be taken at face value,ifFirth is back, he’ll be playing Hart. Again, it’s unclear if this is just a gag or if it’s indeed a piece of foreshadowing, but either way I can’t wait to see what the sequel has in store. I foundKingsman: The Secret Serviceto be a delightful spy actioner in every way, with a starmaking performance by Egerton, so the prospect of seeing Vaughn explore this world even further—with Berry and Moore to boot—is beyond enticing.
