Hulu’s Get Real House event in Los Angeles was full of surprises, includingDancing With The Starscast reveals,The Golden BachelorSeason 2’s leading man unveiled,and a big Kardashian announcement.BothKhloé KardashianandScott Disickappeared together at the event, where Khloe revealedshe is launching an all-new reality series, calledCalabasas Behind the Gates.The series will tell the story of those closest to the famous family — such as friends and neighbors.
Rob Mills, Executive Vice President of Unscripted and Alternative Entertainment at Disney (Hulu’s parent company), was also there for the reveal, saying,“We all want to know what’s happening behind the gates of Calabasas—who are all these people in the extended lives of the Kardashians?” We not only get a look inside the crazy rich lives of the Kardashians,but now we’ll get a look at what happens behind the closed gates of the exclusive, wealthy community.
Who Will Appear on ‘Calabasas Behind The Gates?’
Although we got insight into some details about the brand-new spinoff series,Khloé didn’t reveal who exactly would be appearing on the show. Scott, who shares three children with her sister,Kourtney Kardashian Barker, did not say if he would be participating in the upcoming spin-off. Kourtney also lives in Calabasas with her husband,Travis Barker,which could mean an appearance from the Barker family. Khloe did revealshe would love to see her brotherRob Kardashianmake a comeback to reality TV. This comes after Rob made a rare appearance in a new family photo, marking the first time he’s been seen publicly in nearly three years.
Calabasasis full of celebrities from all walks of pop culture, and there are many that have been known to live in the exclusive gated community for years.Will Smith,Drake,Justin Bieber,Katie Holmes, andMiley Cyruscould be eyed up for the series.However, if the show is anything likeThe Valley,I doubt any of them would be too keen on appearing on the show.
Will ‘Calabasas Behind The Gates’ Be ‘The Valley’ on Steroids?
When I heard theCalabasas Behind The Gatesannouncement,it immediately reminded me ofThe Valley. The Bravo show is a spinoff ofVanderpump Rules, and follows a group of close friends growing up and moving to the serenity of The Valley, where they navigate their careers, rocky relationships and toxic friendships.Both shows situate themselves around a particular Los Angeles neighborhood.The new spinoff show has the potential to beThe Valleyon steroids, showcasing the crazy rich lives of the richest families in California.
However,I’m not sure if we’ll get the piping-hot drama we were hoping for. Ever since the Kardashians made their switch to Hulu,they’ve been steering clear of messy fights and confrontations. I’m also sure thatbig celebs living in Calabasas aren’t going to do anything on TV to ruin their reputations. It may be more so a show whereKhloe goes and visits her friends' estates and talks to them about what’s going on in their lives.
The Kardashians have gone on their fair share of reality TV endeavors, but this one may be the most intriguing yet. Who will be inCalabasas Behind The Gates? Will it beThe Valleyon steroids?
