While movie fans are currently buzzing over the silently scaryA Quiet Place, a new trailer for A24’s horror-hit-in-the-makingHereditaryjust dropped in all its blazing glory. The horror/drama earned its own buzzworthy status early this year when it premiered at Sundance, followed by an appearance just last month at SXSW. Now, it’s poised to be a breakout hit to start off the summer season, and as this new trailer confirms, it’s sure to bring plenty of chills and thrills.

Fans of the film have already drawn comparisons to horror icons likeThe ExorcistandFirestarter, though there are also hints of more contemporary twists on the genre likeThe BabadookandUnder the Shadow, and it’s plain to see that theStranger Thingseffect is still in full swing.Hereditarywill certainly be its own thing … a very, verycreepy thing. Thefirst atmospheric and adrenaline-pumping trailerintroduced the family drama at the center of the horror film that drives the action and ratchets up the tension, and I’m happy to say this new trailer keeps that spirit intact.
