It was already The CW’s most-watched drama of the 2024–25 TV season, averaging 852,000 weekly viewers (Live+7), and it’s now soaring on Max thanks to a fresh wave of curiosity and glowing word of mouth.

Set in 1896, the series stars Thewlis as a grizzled, offbeat version of Sherlock Holmes who’s pulled into a web of mystery and murder involving a deadly criminal network known as the Red Thread.
But the bigger shock comes fromBlu Hunt’sEmelia Rojas— a young Native American woman who arrives in London claiming Holmes is her father. Her mother has been murdered, and she believes Holmes holds the key not just to her past, but to solving the crime. Together, they form an unlikely investigative duo, navigating conspiracies, corruption, and the chaos of late Victorian London.
Will There Be a ‘Sherlock & Daughter’ Season 2?
WhileSherlock & Daughterhasn’t officially been renewed yet, Foley already knows where he wants to take things next. Speaking at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival in June, the creator teased a more ambitious international scope for a potential second season.
“At the end of the 19th century, society is moving from criminals robbing banks to criminals owning banks,” Foley said. “Crime is blissfully international. I’d like to see what’s happening in the U.S., Europe, Australia at the same time. This great, glorious British Empire was still in its heyday, but it’s a big world out there.”
WriterShelly Goldsteinadded that the team already has more story than they could fit in Season 1’s eight episodes. “If the fates are good to us, there are so many wonderful stories to be told with these characters.”
