In one of our favorite SDCC traditions, the cast ofGhoststook to the stage in Ballroom 20 to preview their highly anticipated return in Season 5. Alongside series showrunnersJoe Port and Joe Wiseman,Asher Grodman,Danielle Pinnock,Devan Chandler Long, andUtkarsh Ambudkarjoined panel host and frequentGhostsguest starPunam Patelfor a delightful and surprising conversation filled with some delicious teases of what’s to come when the show returns to CBS on October 16.
The cast announced that not only will we be getting another Halloween episode featuring the ghosts, but that the mummy that was briefly mentioned in thelastHalloween special will be playing a major role. Not only that, butMary Holland’s Puritan ghost Patience will be back — according to the cast, she’ll have a “showdown” with Hetty’s husband, Elias, and some of the ghosts she mentioned at the beginning of Season 4 will be making an appearance in Season 5.

What Happened in Season 4 of ‘Ghosts’?
As for the human side of things, Jay’s sister Bela (Punam Patel) will reappear, opening an event business and helping with the restaurant, and forming a connection with a ghost thatisn’tTrevor! But he can’t get too jealous, becauseGideon Adlonwill be returning for a few episodes as his daughter Abby, and he’ll get a chance to try and connect with her while she works at the restaurant.
Back before the end of Season 4 aired on CBS, the network announced thatGhostswould return for not just one but two seasons. Filming is expected to begin next week with the cast returning to set in Montreal. Season 4 ended on a cliffhanger, with Jay having accidentallysold his soul to the devilin a dastardly trap laid by Hetty’s (Rebecca Wisocky) ex-husband, Elias (Matt Walsh). While Jay is still alive for now Season 5 is expected to open with Elias attempting to take Jay’s soul back to hell with him as quickly as possible by hastening his death.

On a much lighter note, Pete and Alberta also finally worked out their timing and shared a sweet kiss in the final moments of the Season 4 finale. During theCollider Ladies Nightpanel at SDCC, Pinnock said that Alberta is in her “soft girl era” now and teased that there’s some friction to come from Alberta’s relationship with Pete as their very different personalities bump against each other in this new dynamic.
