She’s back, she’s brutal, and she’s ready for blood. Today, Blumhouse has dropped what has officially been dubbedthe finalM3GAN 2.0trailer. That means that we’ve almost made it, folks, as theJune 27 release dateis almost upon us. The B is back in action, and this time she’s met her match in a fellow diabolical doll played byIvanna Sakhno. Also returning to the fold areAllison WilliamsandViolet McGrawas Gemma and Cady, the aunt and niece, respectively, who first unleashed M3GAN’s wrath and fury onto the world. From the sights and sounds of this final peek into the sequel, it’s crystal clear that filmmakerGerard Johnstoneand his co-scribe,Akela Cooper, are back with a follow-up that will not only do justice to the movie that came before it, but further drive that bossy tone and attitude that made the psychotic cyborg such a hit in the first place.
Recounting her past mistakes and grievances, the trailer shows M3GAN taking stock in what went so wrong for her last time. Eventually, she lands on “caring too much” as the reason that things went so off the rails, only to be reminded by Gemma (Williams) that the multiple murders are what played the biggest role. We’ve known for a while that the movie wouldtake a pagefromTerminator 2: Judgment Day, and pin M3GAN up against another AI threat — that of Sakhno’s Amelia. The trailer hits us with plenty of new footage that showcases just how dangerous M3GAN’s military counterpart is, as Amelia breaks M3GAN’s original kill count in seconds. But M3GAN has some tricks up her sleeve as well, even giving Gemma a high-powered suit that allows her to experience the unbridled power that only a highly fashionable murderous cyborg with perfect comedic timing could have.
Who Else is on Amelia’s Victim List in ‘M3GAN 2.0’?
In the movie, Amelia is hunting down anyone who had something to do with her creation, which makes Gemma her primary target. Along the way, she’ll need to get through others, including Cady — which is why M3GAN (voiced byJenna Davisand played byAmie Donald), is so keen on tying up her boots andgetting in the way. In addition to the family members, other pieces of fodder in the battle of the bots include characters played byBrian Jordan Alvarez,Aristotle Athari,Timm Sharp,Jemaine Clement, andJen Van Epps.
