Tis the season for movie trailers, apparently. Granted, every studio in town has been angling to get a brand new/first trailer ready to attach to next week’sStar Wars: The Force Awakens, which guarantees them the maximum amount of eyeballs on their upcoming project, so it’s nottoomuch of a surprise that we’re about to be overloaded with first looks at highly anticipated films. We learned earlier today thatthe first trailer forX-Men: Apocalypseis coming tomorrowahead of its attachment toStar Wars, and now the first footage from one of Warner Bros.’big2016 films is headed our way next week.

Indeed, the “announcement trailer” forFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Themwill be released online on December 15th, which leads me to believe the trailer mightalsobe attached toStar Wars: The Force Awakens. The film is, of course, Warner Bros.’ spinoff of sorts to theHarry Potterfranchise as it tells another story set within the wizarding world. This time working off a screenplay by authorJ.K. Rowlingherself,Fantastic Beaststakes place in 1926 New York City, where magizoologist Newt Scamander (played by Oscar-winnerEddie Redmayne) finds himself running up against magicians in hiding and a government on its toes after part of his collection of some of the world’s most spectacular magical creatures escapes on the streets of New York.

David Yates, who directed the last fourHarry Potterfilms, is at the helm ofFantastic Beasts, which not only aims to illuminate an entire new corner of the Wizarding World but also looks to bring Rowling’s signature themes to the forefront in a story of adults instead of children or teens. As a massive fan of all thingsHarry Potterand J.K. Rowling this is absolutely one of my most anticipated films of 2016, and I can’t wait to get a look (however brief) with next week’s teaser.

Side note: it’s a little funny that the first trailers fortwonew David Yates films—Fantastic BeastsandThe Legend of Tarzan—are arriving within a week of one another.
