Since beforeDon’t Breathepremiered at this year’s SXSW, I’d been hearing directorFedeAlvarezhad crafted something cool. For those that haven’t seen thewell-cut trailers, the film starsJane Levy,Dylan Minnette, andDaniel Zovattoas a trio of burglars who make the fatal mistake of breaking into the house of a blind man (Stephen Lang) who is nowhere near as frail as he appears to be.

While I wasn’t sure the movie could sustain the cat and mouse game, Perri came out of the SXSW screeningraving about the film saying:

“One of the most impressive things aboutDon’t Breatheis that the scenario never grows old. Alvarez and co-writer Rodo Sayaguesfind clever new ways to up the suspense and shock viewers from start to finish. Standouts include a sequence that takes place in the dark and another that features Levy and the blind man’s dog, both of which benefit from Alvarez’s deft direction and camerawork.”

She summed the movie up thusly:

“Don’t Breatheis a masterful combination of suspense and violence that’ll have you squirming in your seat and enjoying every minute of it.”

If you don’t know Perri, she’s a big fan of the horror genre and knows her stuff. If she says it’s great I’m sold.
