FRESH MEAT:
It seemed like it’d be smooth sailing forRingssince we finally got a trailer in August, but it looks likethe project has hit yet another snag.The movie’s already been pushed back multiple times and now Paramount just announced that they’ve moved the horror sequel again, moving it from an October 28th release back to February 3rd, 2017, marking the third time thatRingshas shifted on the calendar.
In addition to theRingsdelay, we’ve also got ERC Box Office reporting that the newFriday the 13thmovie is being pushed back as well. However, that one isn’t as much of a surprise. The film’s been slated for a January 13th, 2017 release for a little while now, but Paramount first nabbedBreck Eisnerto direct in August, so a delay was inevitable. Now the newFriday the 13this set to hit theaters on Friday, October 13th, 2017.
We’ve got a new project in the works that might have a little something to do with theStranger Thingscraze. THR is reporting thatMike FlanaganandJeff Howardare in talks to adaptJoe Hills’novella,Snapshot 1988, for Universal. Apparently the studio scored the rights to the material in a “competitive situation,” beating out Fox which was going after the project forDawn of the Planet of the Apesdirector,Matt Reeves. According to the Hollywood Reporter description,Snapshot 1988centers on “a 13-year old boy who ends up taking care of his elderly former housekeeper whom he thinks is succumbing to dementia. What he doesn’t know is that her memories are not being lost but stolen by an evil man named The Phoenician who uses a camera that steals memories.”Snapshot 1988will be published as a four novella collection in the Spring of 2018.
IFC Midnight has unveiled the first trailer forthe upcoming horror film The Autopsy of Jane Doe. It comes fromTroll HunterdirectorAndré Øvredaland starsBrian CoxandEmile Hirschas a father/son duo who run their family-owned morgue in Virginia. One night, an unknown female corpse is brought in after being found in the basement of a home where a multiple homicide took place. As the two begin their autopsy, strange things take place, and they soon begin to question how dead this woman really is.The Autopsy of Jane Doeis set to hit theaters on December 21st.
As many remakes do,Rob Zombie’sHalloween“expands the mythology” and tries to explain the mystery of Michael Myers. The movie was met with a pretty strong reaction when it hit theaters and nowJohn Carpenterhimself is weighing in with some not-so-kind wordsfor the film and forRob Zombiehimself. Carpenter took part in a discussion with some film students back in April and the Q&A has taken off as of late because during the chat, Carpenter addressed comments Zombie made in a 2010 TV documentary calledHalloween: The Inside Story.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX?!
We have two TV reviews for you this week, and we’re gonna start with the Series Premiere ofThe Exorcist. The pilot episode was directed byRupert Wyattand introduced us to two priests - Father Tomas and Father Marcus – who will tackle one family’s case of demonic possession. Caught in the middle of the two priests is the Rance family, who seem like a normal American family, until the mother comes to believe that there’s an evil demonic presence in their house.
Next up we’ve got our Season 2 premiere review ofScream Queens, also on FOX. This time around the Chanels and other surviving characters from Season 1 make the move from a college campus to a hospital with a haunted past where some fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation.

We’re just about a week into the fall season and that means haunted houses are up and running all over the place.
