Charlie’s Angelsis coming back by way of a new reboot, and hopefullyDestiny’s Childwill reunite to record “Independent Woman, Part III.” But even if that doesn’t happen, the film project is trudging along with a new screenwriter.Evan Spiliotopoulos, the man who pennedHerculesstarringDwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is attached to write the script for directorElizabeth Banks.
THRwas the first to reveal the news of Spiliotopoulos, who has some high-profile projects coming down the pipeline. Universal wants to do a sequel to theAngeline Jolie-James McAvoyactioner so bad that word is they were willing to back Jolie’s directorial effortBy the Seain the hopes it might convince her to sign on. The jury is still out on that one, but at least Spiliotopoulos will be kept busy.

Following her directorial debut withPitch Perfect 2, Banks is coming back to helm the aca-awesome franchise’s third installment and now this. She told THR earlier in the year aboutCharlie’s Angels:
“The original ethos of women who graduated from the police academy, and then were given the jobs of crossing guard and meter maid, I feel like that’s still very real in the world right now.”

Years after the success of the original TV series,Cameron Diaz,Drew Barrymore, andLucy Liucame together for two film versions of this team of detectives/secret agents/martial arts masters for hire. The first had a healthy mix of humor and action, while the latter was as effective asShia LaBeoufmonkey-swinging through the jungle inIndiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Let’s see how these ladies now adapt to the post-Snowden, Internet-obsessed world.
