The Neighborhoodwon’t be expanding its boundaries any further, at least not for now. Two spin-offs of the long-running sitcom were in development, including one centered on a new character named Francois, a.k.a.Crutch, and another focused on fan-favorite brothers Marty and Malcolm Butler. The former, which previously castTracy Morganas its titular lead, has already been ordered to series at Paramount+. Unfortunately, the latter did not receive the same fate, asCBS has officially announced it will not be moving forward with the project. The news comes as the network continues to apply finishing touches to its programming lineup for the 2025–2026 TV season, which will includeThe NeighborhoodSeason 8, announced as the final outing for the beloved sitcom.

Thecancelled spin-offhad yet to be titled, but a story had already been mapped out. According to the official synopsis, it would have followed Marty (Marcel Spears) and Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney) as the brothers “embark on new adventures, finally leaving their parents’ nest to start the next chapter of their lives, finding themselves the newcomers in a neighborhood that’s both close but yet world apart: Venice Beach.” A send-off for the brothers was planned as part of the Season 7 finale, which would have doubled as a backdoor pilot to launch the new series. Despite the spin-off’s cancellation, the episode, which had already been filmed, will still air as the concluding half of the Season 7 finale, scheduled for May 5.
