It’s time that the Avengers assemble… for recess. This week,Disneyannounced that their successful preschool segment is expanding to a new series calledAvengers: Mightiest Friends. The new show will center around kid versions of some of the characters that became immensely popular due tothe ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new series is set to premiere in 2027 on Disney Jr. and Disney+.

Some of the characters that kids can expect to see are Iron Man (Tony Stark), Captain America (Steve Rogers), Hulk (Bruce Banner), Black Panther (T’Challa),Black Widow(Natasha Romanoff) and Thor. Most of them are the “founding fathers” of the MCU, and the target audience of the new series wasn’t even born when they kicked off the MCU. This means that, as they grow, kids might feel inclined tocheck out the entire MCU, since it features characters that they know well.

Disney also revealed that the young characters will face off with some classic super baddies, so kids can expect to seea slate of unforgettable villainslike the Green Goblin, Loki, and, of course, Thanos. The difference here is that the enemies will probably not be subjugated by the Avengers, but rather be taught to play nice and, who knows? They might even become a part of the gang.

The MCU For Kids Is Getting Bigger

This isn’t Disney’s first rodeo into the preschool Avengers world. In 2021,the network releasedSpidey and His Amazing Friends, a show with similar themes to the upcomingAvengers: Mightiest Friends, but it focused solely on Spider-Man. It was a hit: the series has already been renewed through Season 6. It is also one of the most popular streaming series ever among kids. The success ofSpideyprompted Disney Jr. to createMarvel’s Iron Man and his Awesome Friends— which is just about to debut its first season.

Avengers: Mightiest Friendsis co-produced by Disney Jr. and Marvel Studios. At this point, a voice cast for the new series hasn’t been officially announced. The companies are also staying mum on which other characters will pay the young Avengers a visit, but crossovers between the three series will be pretty much inevitable at some point.

Meanwhile, the adult version of the MCU keeps running at full speed, with the latest entryThe Fantastic Four: First Stepswith a domestic box office run of over $200 million.
