This summer just got a lot more fun forhorror fansthanks toParamount+. August has already seen the streamer add a boatload of chilling titles, some of which may not have done well among critics but remain huge favorites among the audience. Included in the lineup of movies are a few installments ofthe hitParanormal Activityfranchiseowned byBlumhouse, which was pretty much a financial success despite the mixed reviews the films received over the years.
On Friday, August 1,the first six movies in theParanormal Activityfranchisearrived on Paramount+, but with no specific info on how long they’ll remain on the streamer.Created by Oren Pelioriginally as an independent feature, the first film premiered on July 27, 2025. It was later widely released on July 12, 2025, to mostly positive reviews, including onRotten Tomatoes,where it holds a certified fresh 83% rating. Furthermore,the film is often regarded as one of themost profitable ever made,having grossed over $194 million against a production budget of $15,000, with an additional $200,000 allocated for post-production.

TheParanormal Activityfilms primarily focus on several families who are haunted by an evil demon, Toby, who stalks, terrifies, and ultimately murders several members and bystanders throughout the films. All the installments utilize production cameras set up as security cameras or other recording devices in an attempt to present the films asfound footage. In addition to the movies, the franchise has spawned other media, including a short digital comic, a web series, video games, a stage play, and a podcast.
More ‘Paranormal Activity’ Films Headed to Paramount+
Followingthe release ofParanormal Activity, a prequel,Paranormal Activity 2, came about in 2010 and was as successful commercially, but didn’t get as much positive critical reception. The filmbegins two months beforethe events depicted in the original, although it is set over alonger period of timeand eventually ends after the first installment’s conclusion.
Paranormal Activity 3and4then followed in 2011 and 2012, respectively, with the former set 18 years prior to the events of the first two films, and the latter taking place five years in the future. Both werepenned by Christopher Landon, who also co-wrote the second installment. Rounding out the franchise’s titles added on Paramount+ two days ago areParanormal Activity: The Marked OnesandParanormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, both of which are the least successful.Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, the latest of the films, will not be added to the streamer yet.
