Everyone is cautiously optimistic aboutJames Gunn’s new DC universe, but he hasn’t failed yet and has announced and confirmed even more projects on the horizon.
Movies are the soul of these superhero universes and the driving factor of intrigue. With that being said, this list will rank every confirmed DCU project by anticipationbased onfan opinion, the talent attached to the project, recent news, and overall potential. Since this list only includes DCU movies, it won’t featureDynamic Duoor theBane/Deathstrokeprojects since the former isn’t confirmed to be in the DCU, and the latter is only a rumor for now.

8’The Authority' (N/A)
Produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran
Initially confirmed in the initial reveal slate,The Authorityhas had a bumpy road since its announcement. The group is a relatively unknown band of heroes with loose morals, allowing them to kill without hesitation in the name of justice. While the plot isn’t known, someone is writing a script. However, it has been a hard time finding footing andisn’t a priority for DC at the moment. Gunn described it as a passion project, meaning he may have some influence on this movie.
The opposing sense of justice between The Authority and Superman poses forfascinating storylines and has excellent potential. Still, they would be an entertaining cast regardless of cameos, reflecting a modern sense of the world and how it conflicts with or shapes the DCU hierarchy. The Engineer will appear inSupermanthis summer, adding excitement to this project. However, its rocky production has made it less of a priority, halting fans' excitement, which is why it ranks at the bottom of this list.

7’Sgt. Rock' (N/A)
Directed by Luca Guadagnino
Gunn only confirmed a few movies outside the initial reveal to be in production, and one of them isSgt. Rock. While rumors spread like wildfire prior to its reveal, they officially confirmed the film. The character is a Second World War soldier who has gone on countless excursions in the infamous battle, meaning fans have no idea which storyline the movie will follow.
Despite being in active production and looking for a star,Sgt. Rockstill lands near the bottom of the list. This isn’t to say no one is looking forward to this movie, as every project on this list is anticipated. However, DC/Marvel movies that do not focus on superheroes or superpowered individuals usually get less attention. Regardless,Guadagnino is an outstanding director, and anything he makes will surely be a bit, which has got fans eagerly awaiting to hear more about this movie.

6’Swamp Thing' (N/A)
Directed by James Mangold
Fans remember the unjustly canceled DC seriesSwamp Thing, which provided a thrilling adaptation of the iconic character. Luckily, fans don’t have to fret anymore, as Gunn confirmed the titular character will receive a solo movie directed byJames Mangold. Having an Oscar-nominated director attached so early is fantastic, but viewers still don’t know what the plot entails. However, they can make a strong guess, as the character’s most popular stories come fromAlan Moore’s run.
Fans may be shocked that this tragic hero isn’t higher on this list, but it certainly would be if not for the disappointing update. While Mangold is still helming the project, talks have cooled down, and he isputting the movie on the back burneras he focuses on other projects. For such an anticipated movie, this news certainly damped fans' spirits. However,Swamp Thing is still a legendary characterwith some of the best plotlines, meaning whenever a movie does arrive, fans will be lining up at the theater.

5’Clayface' (2026)
Directed by James Watkins
Unlike Marvel and its strict timeline, Gunn will confirm any project as long as it has a great script, which may lead to one or more surprises. One of the most shocking announcements wasClayface, a solo movie for the eponymous Batman villain. The villain appeared inCreature Commandos, but Gunn confirmed he did not actually die. Fans don’t know the exact details, but it is said to be a body horror tragedy following a washed-up actor trying to remain popular by injecting himself with an unknown serum.
Usually, a low-budget side villain project wouldn’t be so high on this list, but it already has a release date, information, a writer and a director.James Watkinsis set to direct, andMike Flanaganwrote the script, two horror geniuses responsible forSpeak No EvilandDoctor Sleep, respectively. With the exciting announcement thatfilming forClayfacebegins this summerand casting news soon, this movie is already looking to be a potential Oscar candidate and a highly anticipated movie.

4’Batman: The Brave and the Bold' (N/A)
Likely Directed by Andy Muschietti
When announcing a new DC universe, two characters come to mind when starting the franchise: Superman and Batman. The movie is based onGrant Morrison’s Batman run and will focus on the relationship between the titular character and his son, Damian Wayne/Robin.
Despite divisive opinions onThe Flash,Andy Muschiettiis still attached toThe Brave and the Bold, prompting mixed thoughts among fans. One would think a Batman movie should be a lot higher on this list, and it would be if not for troubling production updates. The Batman name alone elevates this project’s anticipation, but a script has been more challenging to come by. There is a writer, andGunn is working with them, meaningit is a priority to get this movie outbecause Batman is a staple of DC. They also confirmed thatRobert Pattinson would not be DCU’s Batman, which may make fans more or less excited.

The story is based onTom King’s recent comic of the same name, providing a darker and more violent spin on the character as she ends up in a place other than Earth.
Woman of Tomorrowis a perfect storm, with a great writer and director. There are many reasons why this film is one of the most anticipated releases, but it is mainly because it has the most information around it and is the next DCU movie.Filming began earlier this yearand is well into production, making fans even more excited about this action-packed sci-fi superhero film.
