The Reagan family rides again, just in a very different way from how they used to. What was once a network television hit has moved its beloved status over to streaming, as FlixPatrol reveals thatBlue Bloodshas risen to the top of Paramount+’s Top 10. Right now, theTom Selleck-led procedural finds itself sky-high in the platform’s rankings, clocking in at the fourth spot, wedged directly in betweenYellowstoneandMobLand. The CBS crime drama is a hit in more than 20 countries, including Peru, Germany, France, and the United States, and we’ve got a funny feeling that it has something to do with the impending arrival of its highly anticipated offshoot,Boston Blue.
The year was 2010, and CBS — knowingly or not — had something incredibly special in the works for audiences whenBlue Bloodsfirst premiered. The series followed the Reagans, an Irish Catholic family who had put down their roots in New York City and became a sort of who’s who in law enforcement. Over a whopping 14 seasons, audiences tuned in from one episode into the next to not only tag along for the crime of the week but also for the family dynamics — both good and bad. At the top of the family tree is Selleck’s New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, Frank’s son and detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg), Frank’s daughter and New York County District Attorney Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan), Frank’s youngest son and Sergeant Jamie Reagan (Will Estes), and Frank’s father and the previous New York City Police Commissioner Henry Reagan (Len Cariou).

A huge wrench was thrown into the works last year whenCBS announcedit wouldn’t be pursuing a fifteenth season ofBlue Bloods. The announcement sent shockwaves through the fandom, who made their upset known, with the stars of the seriesjust as confusedby the network’s finite decision. By the time thefinal episodesplayed out, theviewership numbersproved that perhaps CBS had made a mistake after all.
‘Blue Bloods’ Will Return — Kind Of
Following the show’s cancellation, there was plenty of hope that one or more of the original characters might receive a spin-off. After plenty of back and forth, the offshoot finally came to fruition courtesy of Wahlberg’sBoston Blue. The title, which is set to arrive as part of CBS’ fall lineup, will follow the actor’sDanny Reagan as he travels northto take a job in Boston. It’s there that audiences will meet a slew of new faces, many of whomhave their own familial tiesto the local law enforcement community. And, while nothing has been set in stone, Wahlberg has made it abundantly clear that the rest ofhis on-screen family aren’t too far away, so we’re expecting at least one or two cameos as the series picks up steam.
