In November 2009,Nickelodeonunveiled the teenage boy bandBig Time Rush, whom they signed to their record label and, at the same time, launched the eponymous series that has since been a major influence on many childhoods. Created byScott Fellows,Big Time Rushran from July 01, 2025, to June 27, 2025, featuring the bandmates as fictional versions of themselves, much likeNBC’sThe Monkees. Now, twelve years after the Nickelodeon comedy aired its finale, one of its stars has confirmed that a reboot is happening, and it will be “totally different” from the series.

In an interview with theCincinnati Enquirer,James Maslowrevealed that the band is in talks to reprise their sitcom roles in a newBig Time Rushmovie that already has a script. “There’s no promises or guarantees here,” Maslow said. “Butwe have a script we’re excited about, andwe’ve been in conversationsfor some time now. So I think there may be a chance that we get that green-lit and shot, maybe after this tour.”

The actor and singer added that doing a TV show reboot is “simply a time issue,” prompting them to choose to start “developing a movie” instead. He further expressed hopes for theBig Time Rushrevival toland on Paramount+, but with Nickelodeon’s “blessing.” With the streaming home, the band believes they can tell a “little bit of a different story” now that the cast is older.

The ‘Big Time Rush’ Movie Will Be “Totally Different” from The Show

If theBig Time Rushmovie happens, it will touch on the much-adored teen series while also exploring a different angle for an older audience, similar to theZoey 101andiCarlysequels. Maslow, who joined the neweriCarly, also mentioned that fans might notice a few of these differences, saying:

“I was on iCarly and I got to joinMiranda [Cosgrove]and the cast for the reboot as well, and it is very similar to the old show, but with swear words. Whereas our movie would touch on the old characters and show, but it’d be totally different.”

Also featured in the pop band areKendall Schmidt,Logan Henderson, andCarlos PenaVega, who with Maslow took a break in 2014 but reunited for an anniversary event in 2020. During the run of Big Time Rush, the group released three studio albums, which all made the Billboard Top 200 chart, with their biggest hits being “Boyfriend,” “Halfway There,” and “Worldwide.”
