Edge of Tomorrowis a miracle of a movie, and may become a prime example of goodwill and word of mouth actually pushing a sequel into reality. TheDoug Liman-directed sci-fi film combined a juicy time travel twist with a cowardlyTom Cruisecharacter and a downright badassEmily Bluntperformance to result in a hilarious, surprising, and wildly entertaining ride. The Warner Bros. film grossed $370.5 million at the box office, which isn’t shabby but also not a runaway success given that its budget was near $180 million, meaning a sequel or follow-up seemed like a no-go....

Now, the duo have reunited for something a little lighter, though Timpson assures Collider’sPerri NemiroffthatBookworm, starringNell Fisher(Evil Dead Rise), is “definitely not your typical G-rated, family-friendly fare.” In the film, Timpson and screenwriterToby Harvard(The Greasy Strangler) take audiences on a whimsical adventure with 11-year-old Mildred (Fisher) and her estranged father, the washed-up magician Strawn Wise (Wood)....
Ricardo Alves Jr.’sElon Doesn’t Believe in Deathdoes something incredibly interesting at the outset—it makes you invest in a relationship you haven’t seen. Rather than build up a relationship and take it away, Alves leaves the audience guessing at what transpired between Elon (Rômulo Braga) and his wife Maladena (Clara Choveaux). Leaving this blank should be a strike against the story, but instead it lures us in as we get to know their relationship through its absence rather than the presence of both parties....

After 2020, we really needed a return of some inspiring superheroes.
